River Torrens- Wetlands

An easy walk, suitable for beginners, cyclists, families, and wheelchairs.

Most of the walk was on a bitumen shared walk and cycling path. It was all one level, with no hills, and thus makes for a gentle easy stroll.

I did this walk with my walking buddy, Adam, who is recovering from knee surgery and my dog, so we didn’t go too far. There are a few bridges that cross the river, so you can turn around early or much later depending on what you are up to.

Start at Apex Park Playground on Burbridge Rd, Fulham. This has lots of shady car parks and is a nice quiet place to begin. There are lots of ducks here and some water features. Some people were enjoying the place with a picnic.

From here, walk east towards the city. The walk is right along the river line. There are a couple of signs marking the place, which are faded and grafitied, so best to be a little prepared before hand of where you are going.

We crossed at Henley Beach Rd bridge and then turned around, walking the north side of the river back towards the river outlet. It was nice and shaded on this side.

We stopped to have a closer look at the horses. There is a horse stable nearby.

From here we walked all the way to the beach.

If you have the time, the beach is very welcoming on a sunny warm day.

Coffee pit stop at Beach Break, attached to the Henley Sailing Club.

Short walk back along the river to the car.

We really enjoyed this walk as Missy was able to join in and Adam could walk without causing further irritation to his knee. The coffee at the end was a real treat.

Please comment bellow if you have done this walk and let me know how you found it.
